Yesterday at work was a hard day. It felt like a Monday. Several Mondays combined, even. Where I work, users kept having problems and computers kept failing all day long. Three machines mysteriously crashed for three hours and then came back up, seemingly of their own accord.

The worst part was that earlier this year, I made a computer configuration change that I didn’t have express permission to do—I just considered it in the best interest of the company and part of my job description to make the change. It made sense to me as network administrator, so I did it. Well, I shouldn’t have, and I got reprimanded for the decision I had made.

Well, I didn’t have a problem making the change back, but I think I just ended up confused and disappointed. There are definitely some issues that make work difficult. It got me down for the rest of the day, partially because I didn’t have time to process it with all the other problems going on around the office.

Last night, I talked it over with Renée and we watched “My Wife and Kids” together. And here’s what I was reminded of: it’s who I am that’s important, not what I do. Everyone will make mistakes. But who you are through it all is what really counts. Renée believes in me, considers me her hero, and that makes life awesome. Better still is knowing that Jesus still loves me and believes in me. He’s continuing to refine me, praise the Lord.
