Finished!
Life June 25th, 2008I finally finished the dress I posted about last time (a few weeks ago, actually). I’m only now just writing about it because I’ve been a busy bee! Last week, Sam decided it was time to use the big boy potty. Oh yeah! We’ve been in full blown potty training for almost a week now, and he’s doing fabulously. He looks like such a big boy in his underpants.
Somehow in all this I’ve managed to sew here and there and finish two projects! The dress I made cost less than five dollars for materials, because the fabric I used was a twin cotton sheet I found at a thrift store and cut up. I used a wonderfully soft lining for the bodice and it’s very comfortable. I like the boat neckline and length a lot, but next time I think I’ll skip the front tie. I don’t know, I can’t decide if I like it or not.
The second project was a skirt with eight godets. I’m thinking if I ever get out for swing dancing again, this is the skirt to wear! Check out my twirling action, hehe. Challis is my new favorite material… super soft, drapes well and is lightweight. Perfect for the summer. I like the mostly pink but kinda coral color this print has. I can’t wait to pair it with some cute shirts and hit the town! (In between feedings and potty runs, that is).

I am so impressed. Again. I can’t see the neckline in the dress pics, but the rest looks so cute! Congrats on Week One of Potty Training! Don’t they look so cute in their undies? I mean, their little hinys look so small and their shorts are all loose. I love it! Hang in there and if you ever feel alone, feel free to refer to one of many of my blog entries that included public potty accidents! Tip: Always carry his extra outfit in a plastic Ziplock bag with you when you leave the house. That way, you can put wet clothes in it when you have him all changed.

One more thing… Don’t leave the Ziplock baggy full of wet pee-pee clothes in the car or in the diaper bag when you get home! You will find a hot steamy science fair project waiting for you when you discover it later!! Don’t ask me how I know this!

I was thinking the same thing… couldn’t see your neckline but was finally able to get a glimpse. Love the dresses!! I like the front tie but I could see where it may not always be your cup of tea. Lovely lovely!

I love the dress and skirt! If I send you a pattern, will you make me one? I like the dress with or without the front tie, actually.
As for Sammy, I can just picture his little frog hiney in those loose underpants. How funny!

I think these turned out great! I really love the dress — neckline and all! Way to get some sewing time in between the potty training sessions.
