The Purple M&M.

Family, Geek, Website No Comments »

I don’t remember them deciding that purple was going to be the new color for M&Ms. I thought it was going to be aqua, or some other pastel-ish color. Sometimes I wish that M&Ms all tasted just slightly different, but then I remember, “No, I like that they all taste the same.”

Can you tell I’m bored?

I’ve been writing OnDelete, OnBeforeDelConfirm, and OnAfterDelConfirm routines all day for an Access database. I say that those three events are quite difficult to get your noggin around. The help file in Access helps very little to sort things out, although I seem to have gotten it now. It doesn’t seem to provide an easy way to delete records in associated tables, especially when you’re deleting multiple records in your main table. Oh well. I got it working, and that’s what counts.

This weekend was a blast. Saturday, although coined “errand-day”, was still fun because Renée and I spent the time together. We went grocery shopping, rented “The Rocketeer”, and did lots of laundry.

Sunday I worked on my car all afternoon, which was both a blessing and a curse. The blessing was in the fact that I got the catalytic converter clamp welded and fixed—and boy, was that satisfying! I also got some StopLeak and put that in the coolant system, because Dad and I couldn’t find the dang leak. It was a great time for Dad and I to spend together. I’m sure glad that he knows what he’s doing. I’m sure glad that he loves me enough to spend that time with me.

Sunday night Renée and I went to the State Fair and walked around and enjoyed the cool night air and of course, a couple of turkey legs. Thank goodness we only eat those at the State Fair, because they are stinkin’ expensive. But we did find a place where we didn’t have to pay for parking, which was cool.

One thing I learned last night: never wear ugly sequined pants and shirts.

Gosh, I’m feeling the urge to do a little redesigning. I think the biggest thing holding me back is the lack of time to actually redesign. Otherwise, I’d be all over it.

Boredom Ensues.

I’m already bored with my current design. And I think I want a domain name. Here’s your chance, world—give mr3 a new name and domain name. I’ll take all nominations—smilestoomuch.com, icantstandyou.org, or (for Eudy) voiceinflection.com. Please check to see if they’re available (if you can).

Ren and I are babysitting Josiah tonight. I was excited until I heard the report of his wellbeing this morning: a veritable explosion of baby-p**p.

Yay.

Dang It!

Probably the most shocking part of this weekend was the announcement of removal of webspace from my account at UNM. I feel like a legacy is going to end. I remember when I started this website back after a Denver Christmas Conference in 2000. I remember writing about God’s desire for me to go to Florida and Him working through the whole thing. I remember when I moved into the Big House, and we had our MOMBOBs, and then when I got in my car accident and I had beautiful pictures of my disaster all over my website. Ahhh, the days.

Alas, now I must draw to a close. April 15 (tax day–I wonder if it’s a coincidence) is the cut day, when I must have all my files saved and the website removed. Alas, I bid adieu to my web audience and thank you for the past two years of fun-filled hilarity (is that a word?).

This weekend was a great weekend, despite the news. Renée, Scott, and my fam’ all went to Midtown Fellowship’s Easter service at the Hiland Theatre on Central Ave., and it was certainly one of the most encouraging Easter services I have ever been to. Never before have I seen people on stage so eager, so ready, so willing to worship the Lord, especially for all He has done! Plus, we got to see Laquie, Matt and Kristen and baby Jo, Peter, Derek, Justin, and many others. I was encouraged to know that Mom could make it and that she enjoyed it.

We enjoyed a scrumption breakfast at the Village Inn afterwards, and then Renée and I took a couple folding tent chairs, a couple IBCs, a couple books, and a couple souls (us) to the park to relax that afternoon and enjoy reading in the sun. Well, apparently, the rest of the entire city of Albuquerque, New Mexico had the same idea because this park was packed. It was only later that I realized, “Hey dork [a loving reference to myself], this is Easter, and it’s a nice spring day—why shouldn’t everyone be out here?” Sigh. Mark’s head is a wee bit slow.

Last night, there were a bunch of us that went to see Salvador in concert, and man did they jam! The lead singer has personality like no other, and if he ever gives up his music career, he could get a career in stand-up comedy—he’s hilarious. After a very uplifting and hand-hurting concert, Renée, Scott, Laquie, and I went over to a closed Marble Slab and then bounced over to Baskin Robbins for some delightful 31 flavored delectability. Thus ended a splendid Easter weekend.

Today, it’s back to the grind. Another busy week of commitments each evening. Tonight, however, I might just clean something if I’m in the mood. I need a nap first, though.

If anyone has any idea where I can host mr3 now, please let me know.

Thinking.

I am posed with a serious dilemma, one that I’m not sure how to answer. I don’t know which way to go between two choices. I feel like there are pros and cons to each, as well as issues of appropriateness involved as well. On the one hand, I could very easily increase a certain aspect of the situation in a positive manner, but at the same time lose certain qualities of the situation that I desire.

It eats within me…

Alas, I will not pull a Charis and not reveal to you my dilemma. In fact, maybe you can help me. In advance, I thank you.

My dilemma is this: should I comment on my own comment system?

By the way, Happy Birthday Alan!

Wednesday.

Yesterday was the one-month anniversary of no-blogging for your friend and mine, Renee (note the absence of accent—that’s for you, Renee). Obviously, she hasn’t become part of the cult yet. Only time will bring you around, my fellow computer science compadré…

Tiff and Jeannie have been here all week. Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to have lunch with them at Frontier (to experience… the Frontier experience). I have to admit, though, that there is just something wrong about ordering American food at a Mexican food restaurant—not that Frontier is truly Mexican, but just mostly. Equivalent: I once ordered a hamburger (note: beef) at a Greek restaurant.

Lesson: bad move.

Tonight I am going to indulge in some good ol’ nickel-fun at Nickel City. Anyone want to come?

Nix The Exceptions.

Breaking my own rules I am. I am going to try for the full seven days instead of the five business days that the rest of the world operates on. Lucky for you all, I’m not going anywhere super soon, minus a Sunday and Monday in a week to go a visiting the great south of New Mexico.

It’s great, there are two new galleries online now. I’m so proud of me.

I picked up the new TobyMac CD this morning, Momentum. It’s very dancy (not stylistically) and hip-hoppish (stylistically) and a fun disc to listen to. There aren’t any major musical accomplishments here, except for maybe the great diversity of genres included on the disc.

This was after a quick trip to the bank and before a trip to Coronado to get fitted for a tux for a wedding. Hehehe, it comes quickly! After I was fitted, I found myself lusting over MP3 players and other audio equipment in Sam Goody, but I restrained myself and proceeded out that door!

What a cold day in Albuquerque today. Prediction: snow. Realization: no. That’s my prediction.

I’m Up To The Challenge.

Per request of Miss Tara and in cooperation with Big C, I’m going to push for the daily update (minus weekends). But it’s not going to be little pish-posh “Here’s My Update For Today” nonsense, but real, true content. It’s all about the content, people! I even made a little button to help in our cause:

Update Everyday!

Feel free to link to it, grab it, put it on your page, eat it, whatever.

Renée got her picture in the paper today. She’s a star! I was in the row in front of her, and wouldn’t you know that I’d miss out on this photo op. Figures! Oh well.

I got time off from work today to plan my first vacation. I actually get to plan it pretty substantially, which is pretty sweet. I’m going to be shaping my environment, and not the other way around. Tight. I think I should say that more often.

Discuss a politically-correct Bible.

Happy 27th wedding anniversary, Mom and Dad!
